Getting around Makati

Getting around Makati

Four MRT-3 stations are in Makati (Guadalupe, Buendia, Ayala and Magallanes). In the business district, covered walkways, underpasses and a 1.1 km elevated walkway link Ayala Center, Legazpi and Salcedo villages. For anything else, use a metered taxi or a ride-hailing app.

MRT-3 along EDSA

MRT-3 runs 16.9 km along the middle of EDSA, from North Avenue in Quezon City to Taft Avenue in Pasay. The operator, DOTr-MRT3, lists four stations in Makati:

  • Guadalupe
  • Buendia (Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue)
  • Ayala (Ayala Avenue)
  • Magallanes (Magallanes Avenue)

Operating hours, as DOTr-MRT3 publishes them (retrieved 8 Oct 2026): the weekday timetable runs from 4:30 AM to 11:40 PM. On Sundays and holidays it runs from 4:30 AM to 10:40 PM. The published weekday last trains from the Makati stations are:

Station Last southbound train Last northbound train
Guadalupe 10:50 PM 11:20 PM
Buendia 10:56 PM 11:19 PM
Ayala 10:55 PM 11:15 PM
Magallanes 10:58 PM 11:14 PM

These are the operator's published times. One of them is out of order: Ayala shows a southbound last train a minute before Buendia, although southbound trains reach Buendia first. So aim to be on the platform by 10:45 PM if you are heading south.

Station entrances close a few minutes before the last train. On Sundays and holidays, service ends earlier. Check the times posted at the station on the day.

The operator's website doesn't publish a fare table, so we haven't listed fares here.

One Ayala: buses at Ayala station

One Ayala, at the corner of Ayala Avenue and EDSA, is the Ayala stop of the EDSA Busway, the bus-only lane down the middle of EDSA. Ayala Land and the DOTr opened it in November 2022 as a terminal that brings several kinds of public transport together in one place. The BGC Bus to Bonifacio Global City has its main terminal at EDSA Ayala, on the Telus side.

Walking the business district

The Makati Commercial Estate Association (MaCEA) has built a network for pedestrians in the central business district. It describes this as a "tri-level pedestrianization program": walkways at street level, underground and above the street.

  • Elevated walkway along De la Rosa Street: 1,110 m long, running the whole length of De la Rosa Street in Legazpi Village. It goes from Legazpi Street at the PLDT Building to Salcedo Street behind Makati Medical Center, and has an entrance into Greenbelt 5.
  • Covered sidewalks: Valero Street in Salcedo Village and De la Rosa Street in Legazpi Village have roofed sidewalks, and so do some sections of V.A. Rufino Street. The covered walkways along Valero Street have LED lighting.
  • Underpasses: the Legazpi underpass connects Ayala Triangle Gardens with Ayala Center. The Paseo de Roxas–Villar underpass, opened in October 2021, links the northern side of Ayala Triangle Gardens to Salcedo Village.
  • Gil Puyat Avenue overpass: a covered footbridge with escalators between RCBC Plaza and The Columns Ayala Avenue.

Taxis and ride-hailing

Metered taxis and app-based rides work across Makati. NNIC's transport page (last updated December 2024) says a Grab Taxi uses the meter, so you pay the LTFRB metered fare plus Grab's booking fee shown in the app.
